From an interview between Gizmodo and AVN (Adult Video Network) it would appear that not due to technical issues but software and licensing issues leaves HD-DVD seeming to have the advantage. Apparently sony is quite closed source on the whole authoring of the discs, and with that being true and the studios and manufactures all tied up with as she says “the big studios” it doesn’t leave room for the porn industry. And since the porn industry is a big early adopter and quick mover on new technology. So it would appear that the HD-DVD camp might just have the advantage over the Bluray camp in the porn industry.
She does go on to say that inevitibly if bluray wins or hddvd wins they will end up going to whatever wins down the road but with the porn industry possibly doing an early swing to the HDDVD might just be the death of bluray down the road. For those that don’t recall the Porn industry inevitibly was what killed sony’s first media format, BetaMax. Could it be possible that authoring and production problems on bluray could just swing the porn industry once again to HD-DVD. With the pricing difference and these authoring problems, on top of how she seems to be talking about both, it would appear that a HDDVD swing is quite feasible.
Could porn once again kick a sony media format in the gut while it’s already down from overly expensive hardware?
