Thesis not for PS3, cause it’s to expensive to develop?

WOW! Apparently it turns out that Thesis by track7games has decided to not develop the game for the PS3 because of high development costs on the platform. This isn’t a good sign especially when game design in general is already at an alltime high. Couple this together with word that media costs might push PS3 games higher than the 60$ xbox360 cousins things are shaping up in the worst possible way on the PS3 front. While track7 isn’t a huge publisher like EPIC or EA it is NOT a good sign, many great games come out of smaller studios and if development costs are much higher than for the 360 things might get a little dirty. We knew the PS3 was harder to develop for from Day 1, microsoft hardware has always been easier with the XNA and the whole PC->360 path so clean and concise along with Microsofts Xbox department hands on with developers helping them to get there games clean and as fast as they can be on the 360. For sony’s sake i hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.

Track7 Games has contacted PS3Land to inform us that Theseis for PlayStation 3 has been cancelled.
The developer blames the problem on the exceptionally high cost of developing for PS3.
For now, the game will only be released on Xbox 360 and PC.
“If Sony were to offer us assistance in producing a PS3 version we would be more than happy to oblige!” said Vicky Valanos, Managing Director.

Update: According to track7, they are saying that while there is no ps3 version the fact is there really was never a ps3 version planned, they fail to deny however that the reason they arent planning a ps3 version is price of development or not, then again no company wants to be seen as smaller or less financially stable than other competitors.
