Well if the war between HDDVD and Bluray wasn’t exciting as it is theirs been a huge revelation. Guess what it’s good news on the HDDVD side again, this time a group of Chinese university engineers and government officials in cooperation with a Chinese video standards group that includes several globally recognized manufacturers as well as the DVD Forum, have all come to an agreement on a standard specification for the blue laser disc mechanism and format specifically for the Chinese Market.
You might remember how big a move from China can be remember the huge upset to the LCD TV industry in just the last year alone, I mean you have to remember these guys produce everything from electronics and circuit boards, to a mother’sbaby sling and they do it in MASSIVE quantities. Now they have the standard to do the same with high-def video discs , they can produce the Chinese version of Bluray (CH-DVD) for their Chinese market, and at the same time will produce HDDVD players for the rest of the world, at well…. Chinese Prices, so get ready for big moves in the HDDVD camp.
This is really not good news for Bluray, especially with groups and people reporting better quality videos from HDDVD, several reports from analysts stating that the extra disc space Bluray offers is pretty moot when it comes to video’s, not to mention you might recall the fact that Sony and the Bluray group have basically blocked the adult entertainment industry pushing them over to the HDDVD Camp.
