Does it really matter if Global Warming exists or not?

Ok this post has been coming for quite some time but I think it’s time I get a few things off my chest that have been frustrating me about the scientific community, specifically the wasted energy and double sided politically minded crap going on in regard to the existence of Global Warming and humanities part in it. I’m not a scientist, I’m a 25 year old technician from Florida living in the Caribbean with my wife, but I’m still proud as hell to be American, that is unless I start hearing about how some scientists believe that Global Warming doesn’t exist and other say it do and how it is going to affect the future of America and the world.

The question I pose in this post is one in which does the existance really matter, I mean how does believing in global warming affect where the United States and the world at a whole is going affect our choices? I mean our main problem started out being that fossil fuels are finite and will be exhausted relatively soon. Then some people even started saying that all these nasty chemicals and build up were causing the planet to heat up, yada yada yada.

So as it works out we need to quickly move to renewable energies as quickly as possible from day 1 because on our current path we’re screwed because we will run out of fossil fuels anyway. So by reducing our usage of them and moving to renewable energies we solve that issue. The other issue seen is the fact that Oil comes from some of the most unstable regions in the world many that aren’t exactly friendly to US government or people. Now regardless of global warmings existence by moving to energy the US can make on it’s own aren’t we also solving this issue as well and keeping the energy cash in the hands of high tech countries that are either the US itself or from mostly countries we are allies with?

Heres the issue if Global Warming doesn’t exist we still have to tackle the issues of who we’re paying for our energy, and the fact that fossil fuels are running out. If Global Warming does exist the problems are the same just 1 more added pressure that pushes us to get things done even faster. So you see the question of whether Global Warming exists is pretty much a moot point because whether it exists or not we still need to do something about it to solve our other two looming problems.

The only effect I can see over the Global Warming nay-sayers complaining in the press and to congress, etc,  is to delay the move away from oil. Which can only really be sponsored by oil manufaturers as thats the only people I can believe that would want to delay and hide the reasons for moving away from fossil fuels. Personally I believe in the problem of Global Warming, but more so I believe that we’re using a resource that is dwindling, and we are shiping cash on a daily basis to rogue nations.

The move to renewable energies needs to change it’s attack strategy, because big oil keeps using the “global warming might not be real” doubt to put doubt into peoples minds even if they can’t stop the transition away from oil they can slow it by making people doubt the need for the transition. The lack of oil reserves, and the fact of who gets the cash are major cases for the shift away from fossil fuels. I mean increased mileage in cars was even the sounding of debate based about global warming? How exactly is increasing mileage on cars a bad thing, why should be that a stomping ground for a global warming debate, the fact is we’re running out of oil so shouldn’t we be making the most of it anyway?

I pose the question does global warmings existence really matter in the way we’re moving forward in our path towards the future of the planet. We want cleaner solutions, I’m sorry but global warming or not, I’m sick of vacationing places that have so much smog and discuting fumes in the air from cars and in areas with oil buring electrical plants. I’m sick of any rogue nations decision to hold off oil a little bit affecting the entire worlds economy because we all rely on oil from their unstable regions. Since when did polution become something that was debated over, last I checked polution was a problem regardless of global warming, it just happens that Global Warming was given as a “possible” outcome from all the polution humans cause. I’m sick of the bickering back and forth over whether global warming exists! We need to make a change, renewable energies aren’t for the global warming advocates or nay-sayers it’s for everyone because theirs more than 1 issue we’re dealing with theirs more than 1 reason pushing the move to a carbon neutral society.

This is all my opinion of course and as I said I’m just a 25 year old technician but isn’t it time that business and politics stopped delaying what needs to be done over stupid idiocincracies. The way I see it we know we’re poluting the planet everyone agrees, we know theirs finite oil left, we know the regions with oil are unstable, yet we’re still for some reason bickering over 1 of the probably hundreds of issues that our ways are affecting the planet and our lives? Since when did the other reasons become less important, and why is global warming overshadowing the others to the point that it gets hung up and stops progressing the solution?

Anyway it’s just a 2 cents from the back of my mind on the issues how I see them

Well guys as I said things will continue to be developed and improved and the second step of this process has been completed about 10 minutes ago, our feeds are now all moved over to FeedBurner completely. Just to keep everything nice and neat for everyone we even made it so our old DasBlog link’s are working. So both your old feed links and the new rss links will all be grabbing content now via FeedBurner.

We’re still working on some other nice little features like taking the entire site multilingual which might come in the next week or so depending on how things progress and how the server load works out in the coming week. As we’re running things on our normal server (don’t have the cash for a new server yet).

If anyone has any suggestions for the site please leave a comment and let us know as we’re always looking for more input. Now that the move to WordPress and Feed burner are completed and working (theirs a few broken URL’s still but i’m weeding them out 1 at a time to try to not loose any of our beloved visitors to the 404 world.

NVIDIA’s Tegra gets Android port and full 1080p streaming

tegra-top-new
Can your phone or PDA power a 1080p set without dropping frames or run a fully 3d interface without any hiccups? Can your PDA plug into a laptop body and power it up as if it was a full blown laptop? Well then your obviously not holding a NVidia Tegra powered device, which makes sense since their not on sale yet. The Tegra APX 2600 chipset that NVIDIA is showing off is where all their tech demos has just about every consumer that see’s it and with some hope many manufacturers dieing for it to release so it can start hitting their products.

tegra-hands-001

Lets just get this out of the way Tegra isn’t a phone it’s a hardware platform that will be in just about any type of portable or handheld device (and probably televisions etc as well). No your beloved iPhone is not going to outperform a Tegra powered device but if Apple is smart they should get Tegra for their next generation iPhone because as NVIDIA showed off this hardware rocks! One thing that might shy Apple away is the fact that one of the tech demos they were showing off was the fact they had ported over Android to run on one of the proof of concept devices. Then again that was sitting next to another device that was streaming 1080p video to a massive plasma, with a supposed 10 hour battery life, so maybe apple could overlook the fact that a competitor would be using the same hardware? :)

The android device was apparently quite responsive and fluid even thought they only ported android over recently and only had a few weeks to work on it. If your interested in seeing more head over to the source for videos of the proof of concept devices in action, just don’t drool too much on your keyboard, I mean even if the fact you could probably stream your high def copy of star wars, right next to reading the latest medical coding training courses and surfing the internet on a device no bigger than an iPod plugged into your plasma at home. Wow that’s just hot thinking about it :)

Michelin e-Wheel makes even awesome wheels look outdated.

090216-ewheel-01

When is a wheel not a wheel, well when it’s a ewheel completely eliminating the need for many aspects of a cars engine to disappear from under the hood. The Michelin man and a company named Valeo have agreed to collaborate on an “electric and rechargeable hybrid vehicle system” the system itself would include the engine, drive train, a cooling system for batteries, climate control, lighting and energy management and even tires. The first thing to come out of this partnership is known as the E-Wheel, it utilizes Michelin’s own active wheel technology that embeds two electric wheels inside the hub of the tire one for power and one for full active suspension.

090216-ewheel-02I mean this isn’t the next big fad or another diet pill like Stimerex ES. This is a real break through and a groundbreaking change from how things would be done. I mean active suspension is an amazing idea and Bose had a system for it a while back but we never saw it make it into many non-superrich cars but with the ability to pretty much completely remove all road bumps it’s a great move. And moving the actual propulsion to the wheel itself it greatly improves performance and efficiency of the engines themselves. The design completely removes the need for gearboxes, drive shafts, and pretty much the entire car suspension as it’s currently known. The only thing I think they haven’t confirmed is that the tires are runflat tires I mean thta would really top the cake on these wicked wheels.

Venturi has already demonstrated these new e-wheels in their Volage concept car and proven that they are as awesome as they sound. Their only looking now for a major manufacturing auto maker to take it to the next level and design and produce a car full blown.

Personally I don’t understand what the hell is wrong with GM and the rest of the US automakers, you’ve got congress bashing you to make huge changes in your cars and to respark the industry and you have revolutionary platforms like this ready at the drop of a dime what the hell are they waiting for? Oh ya knowing the US big 3 their probably going to try to reinvent it in a “better” way that takes 30 years, we’ll probably end up seeing it in some Indian ultra-mini car before the big 3 take it on.
